<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's a great art lesson to teach color and color theory for kids ages 2 through 6. It is a super fun activity for kids anytime of the year, who doesn't love a rainbow?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Materials you will need:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bT61NYbv2yA/T2QY8_Kor8I/AAAAAAAAAWQ/upohq9gsWjo/s1600/containers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="395" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bT61NYbv2yA/T2QY8_Kor8I/AAAAAAAAAWQ/upohq9gsWjo/s640/containers.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">containers for mixing paint in</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Finger Paint</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Drawing Paper (I prefer not to use finger paint paper for this project because it's a little too slippery. Regular drawing paper is just perfect because it has a little texture which is great for applying the hand prints and little hands don't slide as much.)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Spoons or Paint Brushes</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Mixing Trays/Plates/Bowls</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Glue Stick</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Newspaper</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-1 Piece of Constructions Paper (any color 12 x 18)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Cotton Balls (4 to 6)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Begin by putting your finger paint in the trays. Place a dab of each of your primary colors in a tray. These three would be red, blue, and yellow. To create your secondary colors, place a tray between each of your two primary colors. This helps the children to visualize the color relationship and see the colors side by side before they begin to stir the paint.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nbOyHJN1hb4/T2H7_o-xP1I/AAAAAAAAAVo/tBKY7Tvw6B0/s1600/primary+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nbOyHJN1hb4/T2H7_o-xP1I/AAAAAAAAAVo/tBKY7Tvw6B0/s1600/primary+2.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">After explaining which two colors make the third color when mixed together, h</span><span style="font-size: large;">ave your child mix them with a spoon or paint brush.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DBZ6Zq9-ufY/T2FEWyJGprI/AAAAAAAAAVA/cZgenu5hNpE/s1600/IMG_0258.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DBZ6Zq9-ufY/T2FEWyJGprI/AAAAAAAAAVA/cZgenu5hNpE/s640/IMG_0258.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Line up all of your containers in a row in the rainbow order.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U-Ot7N2nn6c/T2IBXGBqmvI/AAAAAAAAAV4/GjwPg9E13Us/s1600/rainbow+of+colors.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U-Ot7N2nn6c/T2IBXGBqmvI/AAAAAAAAAV4/GjwPg9E13Us/s400/rainbow+of+colors.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Now that you have this, it's time to make the hand prints. I have tested both of these two ways. First, I put Lily's hand directly into the finger paints. This left too much finger paint on the paper and the hand print was not very clear. The second and best way I found to make the hand print was to take either a foam brush or regular paint brush and paint the finger paint directly to your child's hand. T</span><span style="font-size: large;">o ensure that your child's hand makes it to the area of paper you are aiming for, u</span><span style="font-size: large;">se the hand over hand method. Do this for each of the six colors, washing hands after each color has been used.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JZainfnSmSY/T2FGV7N3blI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/ghdytSu7BGI/s1600/IMG_0263.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JZainfnSmSY/T2FGV7N3blI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/ghdytSu7BGI/s640/IMG_0263.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large; text-align: left;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large; text-align: left;">Let the finger paint hand prints dry. If you want to speed up this process, you can use a hair dryer. Cut each hand print out. Next, glue each hand print in order of the rainbow with a glue stick.Cut out two clouds, one for each of the sides of the rainbow. Glue these down too. Put a couple of books on top of the project and let it sit for a couple of minutes. This will prevent the edges of the hand prints or clouds from peeling up.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large; text-align: left;">After everything has dried, and been flattened, have your kids glue the cotton balls on top of the clouds.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large; text-align: left;"><br /></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--r2g20Fbp7E/T2QX5TQHE2I/AAAAAAAAAWI/IfoHKBjKliY/s1600/completed+rainbow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--r2g20Fbp7E/T2QX5TQHE2I/AAAAAAAAAWI/IfoHKBjKliY/s400/completed+rainbow.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Now, you have made a fabulous looking rainbow and a keepsake project for your scrapbook while explaining to your kiddos how the 3 primary colors (red, yellow, &blue) make all the other colors in the rainbow.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-size: large;">We've had a house full of sickos. I mean everyone was sick. But, don't worry I have still been coming up with some really good tutorials in the midst of the epidemic. That's why there's been a little lull lately in the blog...if you were wondering. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, we have a Meyer lemon tree in the backyard. It has the biggest lemons I've ever seen. Some are as large as the oranges we picked not too long ago, off of our orange tree. This time of year I feel so spoiled living in Southern California because of all the fresh citrus. Originally being from the Midwest, I never had Meyer lemons until I came to California. They are so full of juice unlike the store bought, small lemons, that have a tendency to be very dry. The Meyer lemons often have this yellow orange glow that make it almost appear like an orange. Emma sometimes has to ask if it is a lemon or an orange. Having a big bowl full of lemons, I figured it was about time to make some lemonade with the girls.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dPKhMk634Lw/T19GOsU9W3I/AAAAAAAAATQ/FVNtPPuzV7U/s1600/IMG_0218.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dPKhMk634Lw/T19GOsU9W3I/AAAAAAAAATQ/FVNtPPuzV7U/s640/IMG_0218.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Notice how these lemons are all so roundish in shape? We only had two that really resembled typical lemons.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DHfI_JPq9iM/T19GyLYf8FI/AAAAAAAAATY/YrjE_Medpug/s1600/IMG_0220.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DHfI_JPq9iM/T19GyLYf8FI/AAAAAAAAATY/YrjE_Medpug/s400/IMG_0220.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">See Emma's hand. This is truly a BIG lemon! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WZ3Q6uJbxL4/T19H3xjRW_I/AAAAAAAAATo/824bP3g1ikA/s1600/IMG_0225.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WZ3Q6uJbxL4/T19H3xjRW_I/AAAAAAAAATo/824bP3g1ikA/s640/IMG_0225.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We decided to only juice a few lemons and save the rest for later. I made a simple syrup recipe that my Dad always swears bye when he makes his lemonade, and it did not disappoint. The syrup recipe </span><span style="font-size: large;">is so easy. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Just one part sugar to one part water and boil. Let it cool.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large; text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large; text-align: left;">Here's my recipe for homemade lemonade:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Using a 16oz. glass:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/8 lemon juice</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/8 simple syrup</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
several ice cubes</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Fill the remainder of the glass with water. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's the perfect combination of not too tart and not too sweet. You can easily modify it to however you prefer, more sweet or more tart. Next time, I'm going to try it with a little carbonated water.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's what the girls thought.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zI3nAWh-sb4/T19KSpSItFI/AAAAAAAAATw/qNUzbfljwoU/s1600/IMG_0235.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zI3nAWh-sb4/T19KSpSItFI/AAAAAAAAATw/qNUzbfljwoU/s640/IMG_0235.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There was no taking pictures of them. It was all business. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">A little cheers is in order!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2g11B9XhAdo/T19LzELsUUI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/x4TQ3ayqVZU/s1600/IMG_0242.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2g11B9XhAdo/T19LzELsUUI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/x4TQ3ayqVZU/s640/IMG_0242.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Good to the last drop!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Next, we'll have to make a lemon meringue pie.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;">Here's a great and simple to do activity for a rainy day. This puzzle can be adapted for kids as young as 4 and up. </span></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wp3VyxFAgLk/T1oauwclNaI/AAAAAAAAASo/qvxxTIzvvBk/s1600/IMG_0167.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wp3VyxFAgLk/T1oauwclNaI/AAAAAAAAASo/qvxxTIzvvBk/s640/IMG_0167.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Start by cutting the front of the cereal box off. Flip it over and use a ruler to draw lines horizontally and vertically. Don't worry if the lines are not exact. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XdAKf52W6Pk/T1obpoa4CoI/AAAAAAAAAS4/o-WqUCh9Y-k/s1600/IMG_0160.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XdAKf52W6Pk/T1obpoa4CoI/AAAAAAAAAS4/o-WqUCh9Y-k/s640/IMG_0160.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Next, take a coin and just trace half of it to make the interlocking edges to the puzzle pieces.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XBQfLGOaYY8/T1ocIo6TGOI/AAAAAAAAATA/uFPbnr6C3D0/s1600/IMG_0161.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XBQfLGOaYY8/T1ocIo6TGOI/AAAAAAAAATA/uFPbnr6C3D0/s640/IMG_0161.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">As you create the interlocking edges on the puzzle pieces, make sure to erase you lines that are not needed as you go. Cut you pieces out using scissors or an xacto knife.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here you go. Easy as pie. These are great for the classroom too when teachers don't have much of a budget to work with. All kids love cereal and the characters on the box. For Kindergarten ages, I would just make the puzzle smaller. This way they won't get as frustrated. </span><br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZnzRJjSlKNQ/T1RthXR09cI/AAAAAAAAARY/Uw9mxVipinQ/s1600/LUNCH+MONEY+HOLDERS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZnzRJjSlKNQ/T1RthXR09cI/AAAAAAAAARY/Uw9mxVipinQ/s640/LUNCH+MONEY+HOLDERS.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Duct tape has become so popular these days. </span><span style="font-size: large;">I came up with this tutorial for moms out there who don't want to spend a significant amount of money on a lunch money holder or are tired of using Ziplock bags for your kids to take their lunch money in. So, this lunch money holder not only has the cool kid factor look, it's easy to make, and is so flexible it will fit in your kids pant pocket. Also, monetarily won't brake the bank to make again if it gets lost.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><u>Materials Needed:</u></span></b><br />
<br />
-<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1 roll of duct tape</b> (I found mine at Walmart for $3.00. You can also find it at Michael's and JoAnn's. Don't forget your coupon.)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-<b>1 package of snaps with the snap tool</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-1 pair of scissors</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-1 rotary cutter or paper cutter</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-1 cut matt or piece of cardboard if you don't have a cut matt</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UPPVV45SG6M/T1RtanK_igI/AAAAAAAAARQ/V6PFAg53hHk/s1600/mats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UPPVV45SG6M/T1RtanK_igI/AAAAAAAAARQ/V6PFAg53hHk/s400/mats.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><u><b>Step 1:</b></u></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut three pieces of the duct tape at roughly 11". If you go over, that it is fine. For this part, your measurements do not have to be exact and a little bit bigger is better. You will be able to trim this all up at the end. You will be making what is equivalent to a piece of fabric out of your duct tape. The overall dimensions will be 9" x 4". I went a little larger to square up the piece of duct tape fabric without any problems.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9Jz0kGz9TYs/T1RtzvscVmI/AAAAAAAAARg/zZdLa5Jq_dg/s1600/20120304_100911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9Jz0kGz9TYs/T1RtzvscVmI/AAAAAAAAARg/zZdLa5Jq_dg/s640/20120304_100911.jpg" width="458" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 2:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Lay the first piece down with sticky side up. Next, you will take the second piece of duct tape sticky side up and slightly overlap the first. Repeat for the third piece.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><u><b>Step 3:</b></u></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut/Tear three more pieces at 11". You will lay these three pieces on top of the the sticky side up pieces. Now, you have your swatch of duct tape. Just like example up above.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 4:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Trim your piece on both sides. You will want the final measurement to be 9" x 4". Make sure to square it up as best as possible.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mVCaGyzO7_c/T1Rqbtjl98I/AAAAAAAAAQw/4rCd6zv91UA/s1600/20120304_102909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mVCaGyzO7_c/T1Rqbtjl98I/AAAAAAAAAQw/4rCd6zv91UA/s640/20120304_102909.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 5:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Fold your piece of duct tape into a tri fold. I fold mine so the top fold is not flush with the bottom. I bring the top flap up just a bit.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u><br />
</u></b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xteaJ7KnkwE/T1Rr4F1hfHI/AAAAAAAAARI/VLHmEPWcW3w/s1600/20120304_102739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xteaJ7KnkwE/T1Rr4F1hfHI/AAAAAAAAARI/VLHmEPWcW3w/s640/20120304_102739.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u><br /></u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step:6</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Reinforce the insides with 2 pieces of duct tape at the top as well as the bottom. So, you will have used a total of 4 pieces of tape. This will help the snaps stay in place and helps keep them from pulling through the tape after repeatedly being opened. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u><br /></u></b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aTsJIgxh78s/T1RuwFlemcI/AAAAAAAAARo/s28k7C_1Nqc/s1600/20120304_103112.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aTsJIgxh78s/T1RuwFlemcI/AAAAAAAAARo/s28k7C_1Nqc/s640/20120304_103112.jpg" width="618" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u><br /></u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 7:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Place your snap. I put the bottom of the snap underneath and press through the tape so it leaves a mark. This helps to locate the snap location on both sides of the lunch money holder. Take a pair of scissors and use the tip of the scissors to help the prongs through the tape if necessary.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-us4clEcMYow/T1RvQvTTdjI/AAAAAAAAARw/_Zr-B-ZTr4E/s1600/20120304_104107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-us4clEcMYow/T1RvQvTTdjI/AAAAAAAAARw/_Zr-B-ZTr4E/s640/20120304_104107.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 8:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Use your snap tool and apply the snap parts to both sides of the lunch money holder.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ofGQGhNcjrE/T1RwIDvPhaI/AAAAAAAAAR4/zrDZZj39Sfs/s1600/01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="345" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ofGQGhNcjrE/T1RwIDvPhaI/AAAAAAAAAR4/zrDZZj39Sfs/s400/01.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lFcun39SsDE/T1RwVn3eN_I/AAAAAAAAASA/YyG9CfvCFFI/s1600/20120304_103952.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lFcun39SsDE/T1RwVn3eN_I/AAAAAAAAASA/YyG9CfvCFFI/s400/20120304_103952.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 9:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut a piece of tape the length of the pocket . Cut this piece of tape in half. Fold these pieces of tape onto both sides of the lunch money holder. This will finish the sides.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-siXC5PsOaNA/T1Rw5BynYDI/AAAAAAAAASI/2P4C9PD6N4w/s1600/20120304_103706.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-siXC5PsOaNA/T1Rw5BynYDI/AAAAAAAAASI/2P4C9PD6N4w/s640/20120304_103706.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Step 10:</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Snap your wallet shut and use pinking sheers to give the top flap a more finished look... if you so desire.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Watch out! You might be making these for your kiddo's entire class. Make sure you have enough duct tape.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">O.k. I have been sitting in this blah boring desk chair for five years now at my current school.. So, yesterday I decided I'd had enough and had to do something. I had looked at this ratty old thing for too long. The worst thing is all the teacher's chairs on campus, expect for maybe administration's chairs, look like mine. When it comes to summer break and cleaning time on campus, all of the teacher's chairs get lumped together in one spot. Somehow this year I received one that had been faintly written on in orange marker. That was it. I had to change it. I had seen this post for recovering an office chair at <a href="http://www.saving4six.com/2012/02/recovering-my-office-chair.html" target="_blank">Saving 4 Six</a>. She made it look so easy and it was. I was able to take the whole chair apart very easily, used a staple gun, applied fabric, and ta da.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gp23ej0ZLm0/T1GBuqe0TSI/AAAAAAAAAQo/cMNYDSMoryM/s1600/IMG_0182.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gp23ej0ZLm0/T1GBuqe0TSI/AAAAAAAAAQo/cMNYDSMoryM/s640/IMG_0182.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Behold! The new desk chair. Of course, it couldn't be any plain boring fabric for an art classroom. This ties in with my table cloths that I have on a couple of tables in the room. It was huge hit with the students. My...what a little change will do for the creative soul.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Today was a beautiful day. It was also Read Across America at school. Dr. Seuss was in full force at both of the girl's schools. Emma got to wear her pajamas which she thought it was the coolest thing ever. I have to admit. I never got to wear my p.j.'s to school and wish I would've had the chance. She also got to bring enough Dr. Seuss books for her and her friends. Lily had the book <i>The Lorax </i>read to her and the teachers helped the students make very cool hats. So, put a beautiful day together and mix it with a little Dr. Seuss. What do you end up with? We ended up at the park to have some fun. I also had to take lots of pictures. I couldn't resist. It's not Dr. Seuss's bithday every day.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I had to share this because this was something that made me laugh for a while. Let me start by saying my daughters both love art and are very good artists. Lily has been following in her sisters footsteps every since I can remember. What ever Emma is doing, Lily is not far behind. I think Lily is 2 1/2 trying to be 7 all the time. Lily has these mad drawing skills though. Here's a picture she colored around 2 years of age using markers. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eg9RiDrEn98/T02oKJKfIKI/AAAAAAAAAOU/kv4GTWTqIlA/s1600/Horse+drawing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eg9RiDrEn98/T02oKJKfIKI/AAAAAAAAAOU/kv4GTWTqIlA/s640/Horse+drawing.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">It's unbelievable that she stays in the lines so well. That's changed a little bit now that we have her in preschool/daycare. We find that she wants to copy a lot of the kids so she is imitating what we call scribble scrabble. Totally normal for her age, but it's hard to get her to draw so nicely again.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u52W65nJBE4/T02oazADmVI/AAAAAAAAAOc/wLuxIz39nHs/s1600/Lily+drawing2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u52W65nJBE4/T02oazADmVI/AAAAAAAAAOc/wLuxIz39nHs/s640/Lily+drawing2.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Still not bad and she does a nice job. We got Emma a new sketchbook and Lily got a mini one of her own. A pocket size sketchbook that is easy for her to carry. Here's her picture. She described her picture to us.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e-4RGvlJKRM/T02q3Q8mJxI/AAAAAAAAAOk/xitcpViz-I4/s1600/Lilys+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e-4RGvlJKRM/T02q3Q8mJxI/AAAAAAAAAOk/xitcpViz-I4/s400/Lilys+2.jpg" width="197" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Are you ready for this... she said it was a cheese stick. How cute and it made me chuckle really hard. She jumped up and down just saying, "Cheese stick Mommy! Cheese stick Mommy!" You know. I can see it. That would be the one to the right. I can see how that would be a cheese stick to her. The little things that make us smile are truly sometimes...very little. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ilXShaKj7I/T0sXugcx5yI/AAAAAAAAANY/8JhCoAC4yq8/s1600/Shamrockshirt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ilXShaKj7I/T0sXugcx5yI/AAAAAAAAANY/8JhCoAC4yq8/s640/Shamrockshirt.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">It's that time of year again when that little mischievous green guy known as the leprechaun celebrates his day. I love St. Patrick's Day and am part Irish. No, I'm not just saying that for the convenience of the holiday. Insert smiley face here. In our house we celebrate by wearing green, and eating corned beef & sour kraut. Well, to make sure you and your kids are wearing green and don't get pinched... here is a great tutorial that is very easy and inexpensive to make. Here is what you will need:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jHi35PooCww/T0r_5IW-vFI/AAAAAAAAAL4/aQRjVOYo6jY/s1600/DSC_0025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jHi35PooCww/T0r_5IW-vFI/AAAAAAAAAL4/aQRjVOYo6jY/s640/DSC_0025.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Materials Needed</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-<b>1 Green Shirt: </b>I purchased mine at Walmart. These are the cheapest I've found and are cut to fit a girl nicely. Only $3.47. Yes, for all of you Target lovers out there, I did check Target and I couldn't find a girls basic green shirt.)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-<b>Nylon Lime Green Tulle: </b>1/2 a yard will leave you with left over tulle. Only $.75. You could also use a soft green or white.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-Fabric Marker</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-Thread To Match The Tulle</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-Scissors</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-Cardboard</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>-Pencil</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><u>Step 1:</u></i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Find a picture as a reference to draw the leaf of a clover. I found this site: <a href="http://www.webweaver.nu/clipart/st-patricks-shamrocks.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.webweaver.nu/clipart/st-patricks-shamrocks.shtml</a></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LgpAhemTPhU/T0sBSk2Y3sI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/jApVuYCuFdQ/s1600/DSC_0026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LgpAhemTPhU/T0sBSk2Y3sI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/jApVuYCuFdQ/s640/DSC_0026.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cardboard Shamrock Leaf Template</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<i style="font-size: x-large;"><u>Step 2:</u></i><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Draw one of the shamrock leaves on cardboard keeping in mind you will have to size the leaf according to the size of the shirt you are embellishing. (Smaller shamrock for a smaller child.) Cut out one of the leaves of the shamrock out of the cardboard as a template.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UmfYdkHFLfI/T0sBj9ZJZoI/AAAAAAAAAMY/xlPB2UOhxQM/s1600/DSC_0027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UmfYdkHFLfI/T0sBj9ZJZoI/AAAAAAAAAMY/xlPB2UOhxQM/s640/DSC_0027.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Trace Leaf Template onto T-Shirt</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<i style="font-size: x-large;"><u>Step 3:</u></i><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Trace the leaf template with your fabric marker. I tried a fabric pencil too, but the marker was much easier for me to use. Do this 3x's. Eyeball it and make sure your clover is looking like a clover. Don't forget to h</span><span style="font-size: large;">and draw the outline of the stem of the clover.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-em4qNwZAI9Y/T0sB7F93kmI/AAAAAAAAAMg/0eN05ySxQL4/s1600/DSC_0029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-em4qNwZAI9Y/T0sB7F93kmI/AAAAAAAAAMg/0eN05ySxQL4/s640/DSC_0029.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Creating Tulle Ruffle</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<i style="font-size: x-large;"><u>Step 4:</u></i><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Next, cut your tulle strips 1" wide. Ruffle the strips. Sew the strips in the middle of the tulle and pull one of the threads to get the tulle to ruffle.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Outline Shamrock and Pin in Place</td></tr>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<i style="font-size: x-large;"><u>Step 5:</u></i><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Take your ruffled strip and follow the outline of your shamrock. Pin it while you go.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sew Tulle in Place</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<i style="font-size: x-large;"><u>Step 6:</u></i><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Sew tulle in place. Continue to do this around the entire shamrock. I had four rows of the tulle. Yours might vary depending on the size of your shamrock.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />

Can you say WOW! Every so often, I try to go to an estate sale. I can't go too often because I think I would seriously be very broke. No joke! I am a part of this estate sale following with Lady Z (I will call her) and her husband. They are the cutest elderly couple that have this great business. They definitely have the market cornered in my neighborhood and the surrounding neighborhoods as well. Anyhow, what a wonderful sale. I got there very early and waited with some of the veteran estate sale goers. I went because they had advertised sewing items. So, there I was with box in hand. Look, what I found.</span></div><span style="font-size: large;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Beautiful salt and pepper shakers. I think these are salt and pepper shakers. At least, that's what they will be used for. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yMZauo4vsEI/T0KuIVC-McI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/_vnkHkZSz1g/s1600/Final+Art+piece.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yMZauo4vsEI/T0KuIVC-McI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/_vnkHkZSz1g/s640/Final+Art+piece.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I have to back post this tutorial. But, I absolutely loved how this project turned out and had to share it with everyone. You too could have modern art created by yourself or your child with ZGallery looks or the look of the Guggenheim for a very low, low cost.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This artwork was created by my daughter Emma when she was just 6 1/2. This tutorial is so simple and you'll have timeless, classic modern artwork that will be a product of your little one or yourself.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's what you need:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-<b>1, 2 or 3 Canvases</b> <b>12 x 12</b> (Depending on the size of your wall space and the look you desire. I always pick the canvases that have the 1" finished canvas sides. They may be more expensive then the regular canvas boards. However, when you go to hang your finished work, you won't have to pay the additional cost of the canvas frame bars. That will easily add an additional, $15.00 or more to your overall cost of the project. If you can't find canvases with the 1" sides, do use the canvas boards. They also sell the canvas frame bars at Michael's where you know you can use your 40% off coupon. Also, here's a tip for you. If you didn't know, you can use JoAnn coupons at Michael's. They will only take one per visit though.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">- <b>2 Containers of Acrylic Paint </b>(choose 2 high contrasting colors)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">- <b>Foam Paint Brush</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">- <b>Roll of Painters Tape</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>- Container For Your Paint</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">- <b>Newspaper</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QbRBhmWdVvg/T0GJfiNtkBI/AAAAAAAAAIg/TH79KAh-neI/s1600/DSC_0002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QbRBhmWdVvg/T0GJfiNtkBI/AAAAAAAAAIg/TH79KAh-neI/s640/DSC_0002.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's the 12 x 12 canvas.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JXEJZWB6arU/T0GKBBMA40I/AAAAAAAAAIo/0pedIyO1iCU/s1600/DSC_0008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JXEJZWB6arU/T0GKBBMA40I/AAAAAAAAAIo/0pedIyO1iCU/s640/DSC_0008.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Start off with your lightest color first. If you want to use white, you could skip painting the first layer the lightest color.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hvVOGzZ7DOo/T0GKfbr0IjI/AAAAAAAAAIw/nLSZxjSya7U/s1600/DSC_0009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hvVOGzZ7DOo/T0GKfbr0IjI/AAAAAAAAAIw/nLSZxjSya7U/s640/DSC_0009.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's my daughter Emma painting the first canvas the lightest color. It's like a butter cream color. You will want to use the higher quality acrylic paint for this. I prefer the Ceramcoat by Delta. If you go with the least expensive acrylic craft paint, you will have trouble coating the canvas. Sometimes you will get very thin layers in areas that seem somewhat transparent or you will have to put several layers of paint on the canvas. Save yourself some time.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ae6E4eIpw48/T0GNMtB51pI/AAAAAAAAAJA/CXlhNXboKlM/s1600/DSC_0018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ae6E4eIpw48/T0GNMtB51pI/AAAAAAAAAJA/CXlhNXboKlM/s640/DSC_0018.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">After the first color has dried your ready for the next step. If the paint is not drying fast enough, which it never does for kids, use a hair dryer to speed up the process. Next, take the painters tape and tear it in half the long way. You may have to help your child with this part. Apply the tape and make sure to wrap it around the edges. Also, make sure to have your child smooth over the tape with their hands a couple of times.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kLKl8uyzkc4/T0GOo7vhVPI/AAAAAAAAAJI/vFG0_4lUB2Y/s1600/DSC_0030.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kLKl8uyzkc4/T0GOo7vhVPI/AAAAAAAAAJI/vFG0_4lUB2Y/s640/DSC_0030.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XISzMgdIVSo/T0GO9VQjMuI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/LNjlh1Gvsa4/s1600/DSC_0033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XISzMgdIVSo/T0GO9VQjMuI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/LNjlh1Gvsa4/s640/DSC_0033.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Add your second color which is your darkest. Paint over the entire canvas. A tip to learn from our mistake...make sure to thoroughly rinse and dry out your foam brush. Foam brushes have a tendency to hold a lot of excess water. You can see here where the paint is very transparent. So, make sure to squeeeeeeze that foam brush out really well. Give the darkest color a couple of coats to ensure you have full coverage.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A6h5XphZp4s/T0GQRfBTMbI/AAAAAAAAAJg/FdgB5FhUSSg/s1600/DSC_0039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A6h5XphZp4s/T0GQRfBTMbI/AAAAAAAAAJg/FdgB5FhUSSg/s640/DSC_0039.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The best part is removing the tape and seeing the results. Oooooooh! Emma loved it.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The first painting is finished. Now, to have Emma complete the other two. </span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I'm so excited. We received a dresser for free from the people down the street. We didn't know them very well. But, they ended up giving us this dresser. I'm so excited about all of the possibilities. My youngest daughter Lily is in desperate need of a dresser. I have been putting off paying full price for a new dresser for sometime now. I just couldn't do it. So, I felt very fortunate to receive this dresser.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F_chj4zEIeM/Tz3CJEhZzwI/AAAAAAAAAHw/Oe7IKLCkFnM/s1600/DSC_0056.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F_chj4zEIeM/Tz3CJEhZzwI/AAAAAAAAAHw/Oe7IKLCkFnM/s640/DSC_0056.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is the dresser. Wow! It needs a lot of help and a lot of TLC.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZLt83ykSSgM/Tz3Cjz48eMI/AAAAAAAAAH4/4QzYO4c2HL4/s1600/DSC_0059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZLt83ykSSgM/Tz3Cjz48eMI/AAAAAAAAAH4/4QzYO4c2HL4/s640/DSC_0059.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You can see all of the damage that has been done to the dresser. There are scratches, water marks, and writing that is set deep into the wood of the dresser.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nJorhpplp8s/Tz3DJ8DDLeI/AAAAAAAAAIA/Bq9XTcBaGLU/s1600/DSC_0062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nJorhpplp8s/Tz3DJ8DDLeI/AAAAAAAAAIA/Bq9XTcBaGLU/s640/DSC_0062.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You can see that this dresser has a white wash finish. It also has several stickers on it. This is just one of the stickers or what is left of it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xMVR5NFOfOw/Tz3D-PqsUuI/AAAAAAAAAII/PAPntcencvI/s1600/DSC_0060.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xMVR5NFOfOw/Tz3D-PqsUuI/AAAAAAAAAII/PAPntcencvI/s640/DSC_0060.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We started by removing all of the drawers. We removed all of the knobs off the front of the drawers too. Next, all of the hardware was removed from inside of the dresser.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UsCX2eU6bLA/Tz3FFXy7FtI/AAAAAAAAAIY/8DAU2SG1gZo/s1600/DSC_0066.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UsCX2eU6bLA/Tz3FFXy7FtI/AAAAAAAAAIY/8DAU2SG1gZo/s640/DSC_0066.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Lily wanted to participate in the action. Don't worry we quickly removed the screw driver from her hand. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Stay tuned for an upcoming post on the progress of the dresser. Great things are happening.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">(I used a 24" zipper in black. Regular price $5.79 and with a 40% off coupon it ended up being $3.47 not including tax. You should be able to get a least 3 bows out of the one zipper.)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-Hot Glue G</span><span style="font-size: large;">un</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-3/8" Grosgrain Black Ribbon</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-1 Metal Hair Clip</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">-1 Pair of Scissors</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ly3oboHdJTQ/Tzx2QpVcFLI/AAAAAAAAAG4/zzcQX9I9nlE/s1600/20120215_103808.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ly3oboHdJTQ/Tzx2QpVcFLI/AAAAAAAAAG4/zzcQX9I9nlE/s640/20120215_103808.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you have ever made bows, you know that you have to put ribbon on the metal clip. Start with the inside of the clip. Put a little hot glue down. Just a little because it will squirt out everywhere. Plus, you don't want to burn your finger on the hot glue. Continue to wrap the outside of the metal clip with ribbon. Hold the clip open while you are putting the ribbon on top. The glue will squish through to the bottom of the top of the clip. Continue all the way around until the entire clip has been covered with ribbon adding hot glue as needed. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CsYVgE3YGHk/Tzx4I9BaJsI/AAAAAAAAAHI/1DUqoE0kX4Q/s1600/20120215_100631.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CsYVgE3YGHk/Tzx4I9BaJsI/AAAAAAAAAHI/1DUqoE0kX4Q/s640/20120215_100631.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut the zipper at the one end as close as you can get to the end. This will allow you to make as many bows as possible out of the one zipper.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W04-duu05cw/Tzx6MX9xgEI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/5gR8VcUUpgc/s1600/20120215_104230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W04-duu05cw/Tzx6MX9xgEI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/5gR8VcUUpgc/s640/20120215_104230.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I ended up making it about 6 1/4" in length. You can eyeball this too. If you want the bow to be longer, just add more zipper.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fuhJMJ4kSYM/Tzx6mwmb85I/AAAAAAAAAHY/DdYuJGMidvE/s1600/20120215_101916.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fuhJMJ4kSYM/Tzx6mwmb85I/AAAAAAAAAHY/DdYuJGMidvE/s640/20120215_101916.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Wrap the bow around . Hot glue the both ends down.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A3RpShbfsWo/TzyCjuOCmBI/AAAAAAAAAHg/Xcmhc8vjb9k/s1600/20120215_104529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A3RpShbfsWo/TzyCjuOCmBI/AAAAAAAAAHg/Xcmhc8vjb9k/s640/20120215_104529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">When I hot glued the end down, I tucked the the ends in too. Pinch the bow together and wrap a piece of the ribbon around the center. Hot glue the zipper bow to your clip and you're finished. Much cheaper than Hot Topic too.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<img height="400" src="http://img.hottopic.com/is/image/HotTopic/171096_hi?wid=200&fmt=jpeg&qlt=85,0&op_sharpen=1&resMode=bicub&op_usm=0.0,0.0,0,0&iccEmbed=0" width="265" /> <br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Hot Topic has three for $8.00. By the time you pay tax it's close to $10.00. It's all about do it yourself. Now, I'm going to find zippers that are gold.</span><br />

We love making orange juice. This is the time of year our orange tree in the back, even though it is small, has lots of oranges on it. We can't wait till they are ripe enough to juice. So, today we did a second round of juicing. It was so much fun. We have an old Black & Decker hand juicer that works just perfect for this.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Looking for a new idea to recycle the milk jugs that you have at home? Well, here's an idea. Turn your milk jug into a cute animal made out of color construction paper that hugs the bottom of the milk jug. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLs_zxv93_0/TzXrrqtt7aI/AAAAAAAAAFA/Mbn7dDkGX84/s1600/IMG_0789.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLs_zxv93_0/TzXrrqtt7aI/AAAAAAAAAFA/Mbn7dDkGX84/s640/IMG_0789.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut the top part of the milk jug off. Right below the handle. Have a pattern of an animal bear, cat, dog etc. and have your child trace it. Cut out the animal pattern. Glue the eyes, whiskers, heart, etc. Put a little saying on it. There you have a modern twist on the Valentine's Day holder. Goodbye shoe boxes and make way for the milk jug.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's a different twist on the melted crayon art on canvas. Check it out. Just in time for Valentine's Day! A heart. Look how cool this turned out.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ej9T1ubRFfk/TzXomY3OFgI/AAAAAAAAAE4/HVgOMQymFLs/s1600/IMG_0745.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="496" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ej9T1ubRFfk/TzXomY3OFgI/AAAAAAAAAE4/HVgOMQymFLs/s640/IMG_0745.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Just get a box of 64 Crayola crayons, a large poster board or canvas, pencil, hot glue gun, and a hair dryer.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Draw the shape of your heart out lightly in pencil first. Then hot glue the crayons on in the various color arrangement you would like. Lay down some newspaper because once the wax of the crayons melt it will go everywhere. More so than you think. Take the hair dryer to the crayons and melt the wax. You won't think it is working and then all of the sudden...poof! The crayon wax really starts to flow.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Have Fun!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<br />

</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">We always do a lot of projects around our house. My oldest daughter Emma loves to do anything that involves beading. She works a lot with clear elastic and makes bracelets to give her friends. Instead of tying knots at the end, try this technique. Attach a heavy duty chip clip to the end of the elastic. I like the ones with the magnets because they are heavier and have the extra weight which is nice. Make sure that elastic is secure and is in the teeth of the clip before you start beading. Just give it a good yank and then start beading. It makes for a good anchor too and is much for manageable for kids.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-67ByE-V6fGw/Tx7HhmDIM5I/AAAAAAAAAEw/4hMNGcHn3S8/s1600/clipidea.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-67ByE-V6fGw/Tx7HhmDIM5I/AAAAAAAAAEw/4hMNGcHn3S8/s640/clipidea.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here's one of her bracelets with the clip attached.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">You can also attach another one at the end if you need to stop before the bracelet is finished. Happy Beading!</span></div>Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12240742823475784532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1114073300105364384.post-87343569967948530372012-01-21T13:50:00.000-08:002012-02-13T21:34:11.255-08:00Teen Truth Live-Presentation on Bullying<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"> <img src="http://teentruthlive.com/GalleryHome/02a.jpg" /></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Photo From The Team Truth Live Website-Speaker JC Pohl</span></div><span style="font-size: large;">I haven't done a post in a while and that is going to change. I'm off to a fresh new start for the year and have many ideas that I want to share. But first, I have to comment about an assembly that was just featured at my school. The presentation was called Teen Truth Live. All I have to say is, "WOW!". Of all my 15 years of teaching, I've never seen a more powerful presentation about bullying or any presentation that has impacted the students the way this one did. This presentation is about how bullying has basically effected everyone at some point in the life. This goes for adults too. This assembly address how the impact of bullying can lead to students to take dramatic measures that result in terrible and life altering results. For example, Columbine High School and the students who killed other students and teachers as a result of bullying. This presentation focused on bullying and how it effects other students. Real students were given cameras for a year and documented how bullying has effected them and gave real life examples through the footage they shot. Footage of the horrible event of Columbine and the aftermath were shown. The 911 call was played out where you hear the teacher on the phone to the 911 operator saying the shooter was outside the library. Then you hear the gun shots. The teacher tells of how the shooter enters the library and then all you hear is nothing. Silence. The operator speaks again and says several times, "Hello? Hello? Hello?". No response. I heard this and tears immediately came to my eyes. This completely hit home to me being a teacher. Wow. That could've been me. What if that is me some day? Gosh, I hope I never ever have to be in that position ever in life and trust me out of all my years in the profession some unpredictable things have happened.</span><br />
<div><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">The presentation goes from the negative to the positive. It tells of a story of a learning disabled student who all he wants to do is make the basketball team. The student tries out and doesn't make it. However, the coach asks him to be manager of the team and if he works hard maybe some day he might just make it. I wish I could remember the name of this student. Anyhow, this student works hard and makes the team his senior year. The team is going to play the last game of the season that determines whether or not they continue in the playoffs. All of the players asked if this student could play in the game. The coach said, "I don't think so. This is a playoff game." Then the coach makes a deal with the player. He said if they were to get ahead by 15 points. He would put that student in. Last minute of the game. The student goes in the game. They receive the ball. The teams members dribble it done the court and as they do the shot clock ticks down. One team member hands the ball to the student. Last 3 seconds of the game he shoots for a 3 pointer. He makes it. Football players rush the court and lift the student in the air and carry him around in a victory celebration. It was an incredible story. This story was broadcast everywhere. Nationwide people heard this story. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">The presenter goes on to stress to the students and the audience that everyone can make the choice and decision every day to make a difference. Making a difference every day even if it is small can have a huge impact. This presentation got students thinking. Got students thinking of how their actions whether big or small, mean or nice effect people. Students and teachers were crying. Students were hugging one another. Dialogue took place afterwards about being bullied and how that made students feel. Huge is all I can say. This was huge. I wish every school campus nationwide could hear this presentation. With all of the societal pressures students undergo, it gets tougher and tougher for them each and everyday. How can you make a difference today? This is the question I will keep asking my students. Thank you Teen Truth Live. You made a difference with us.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br />

</u></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">I made this for my youngest daughter when she decided she needed to be like her big sister for Halloween. Big sister was a queen with a crown so Little sister had to have a crown too. I was scrambling to come up with and idea. Yes, I procrastinated. So, I upcycled an old headband that wasn't being worn. It turned out great. Who knew that an old headband could look so good. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #c27ba0; font-size: large;"><u><br />
</u></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-epO_GFvNWTg/TsBwAyk5KTI/AAAAAAAAADo/yOBH2yq_60E/s1600/emmalily_headband.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-epO_GFvNWTg/TsBwAyk5KTI/AAAAAAAAADo/yOBH2yq_60E/s640/emmalily_headband.jpg" width="504" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #c27ba0; font-size: large;"><u><br />
</u></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"> Minimal supplies are need. Here's what you will need:</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PqbJqDNbmdc/TsBoYlCyv0I/AAAAAAAAADA/1w9cdpUgIEA/s1600/supplies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PqbJqDNbmdc/TsBoYlCyv0I/AAAAAAAAADA/1w9cdpUgIEA/s640/supplies.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><ul><li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">1 White Hydrangea Silk Flower ( I got mine at Michael's.)</span></li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">1 Headband in any color sitting around the house</span></li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Large Acrylic Rhinestones (I used the 12mm size.)</span></li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Matching Acrylic Paint (Craft Paint)</span></li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Martha Stewart's Glitter Paint-in the color to match</span></li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Glue Gun</span></li>
<li style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Paint Brush</span></li>
</ul><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Start by pulling off 8 flowers. If the flowers are on the smaller side, you made need to use 10 to 12 flowers. You will have to eyeball this. </span></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-txvJD9D5rUM/TsBo7SLAXuI/AAAAAAAAADI/W-Kz6kR3Bx8/s1600/pulled_flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-txvJD9D5rUM/TsBo7SLAXuI/AAAAAAAAADI/W-Kz6kR3Bx8/s640/pulled_flowers.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Paint the flowers with the acrylic paint. I used the wisteria color of Americana acrylic paint. You will have to paint on a couple of coats to make sure the paint seeps through. I didn't paint the underside. Let the paint dry. You can use a hair dryer to speed up the process or put it in the sun. I opted for the later. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q0g6XmnTVYI/TsBp4-hW41I/AAAAAAAAADQ/qwf0obmcut4/s1600/painted_flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q0g6XmnTVYI/TsBp4-hW41I/AAAAAAAAADQ/qwf0obmcut4/s640/painted_flowers.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Next you will want to glue the first four acrylic flowers straight across the headband. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k-y535pYJ2k/TsBqgOX80WI/AAAAAAAAADY/9_SKK6HmAmw/s1600/gluing_flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k-y535pYJ2k/TsBqgOX80WI/AAAAAAAAADY/9_SKK6HmAmw/s640/gluing_flowers.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Then, glue the next row right on top of one another. When you glue the second row, I rotated each flower just a bit so they don't line up perfectly. This will make the headband look fuller. Add the rhinestone by hot gluing it to the center and you are finished. It's that easy. You now have a great looking headband. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ggTyDdDjMiA/TsBrCSZmuJI/AAAAAAAAADg/fnDmhUZDvRA/s1600/finished_headband.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ggTyDdDjMiA/TsBrCSZmuJI/AAAAAAAAADg/fnDmhUZDvRA/s640/finished_headband.jpg" width="428" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Now, I think I saw an old red boring headband laying around that needs a new face lift too. I think it would be perfect for Christmas! </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #c27ba0; font-size: large;"><br />

</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0grqWvbKPP8/TrwJSt_mjiI/AAAAAAAAABw/ja591GRgtpA/s1600/handataltar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0grqWvbKPP8/TrwJSt_mjiI/AAAAAAAAABw/ja591GRgtpA/s400/handataltar.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">This was an art piece at one of the altars of a young man who had passed away. I don't know if he created it or someone else did in honor of him. The detail was amazing.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />

It was so much fun. Everything from the art work, vendors, food and altars were muy authentico. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">If you don't know what Dia de los Muertos, it is a Mexican holiday that is typically celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November to remember and celebrate loved ones and friends who are deceased. I have always loved mexican art and the craft art produced. Everything from tin, paper mache, and wood carvings. I also love the Las Calaveras Catrinas or the Elegant Skulls. Mexican printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada create <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Posada2.Catrina.jpeg" target="_blank">"Las Calaveras Catrina"</a> in 1913 and this image has been incorporated into Mexican imagery ever since.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I received so many compliments on them. They have such a wide assortment of colors in nail polish these days. I used an orange and gold glitter nail polish. I tried using a plain white for the bottom of my nails but I didn't like the look. It wasn't going on like I had expected. I used an acrylic artist ink for the pearlescent color and a small paint brush.</span> </span></div>Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12240742823475784532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1114073300105364384.post-19054209066625360522011-10-29T18:27:00.000-07:002011-10-29T18:27:01.438-07:00Welcome to Artzy Creations!Hi!
